The Way to a Vegan Woman's Heart.....

First you gotta find out what her palette mostly desires in food.

Does she prefer salt, sweets, crunchiness, or creamy foods?

Does she like fruits more than vegetables?

Then what kind of vegan is she? Does she eat more raw or more cooked? If she eats more cooked food, does she eat more tofu, tempeh, seitan? If she eats more raw, does she like her nuts and seeds more than she likes her tropical fruits? If she likes her tropical fruits, does she like her exotic fruits?

Vegan women can be complicated so you gotta ask before you try and handle this type of woman?

Opening Doors

When I first got sick in my early twenties, I was devastated. I was so angry with God and myself because I felt like I'm young, I'm in college, I want to have fun, party and my body wasn't having it. That idea of what I thought being young and fun was closed for me. But another door was opening up for me that I didn't even realize.

While I was nursing myself back to health, I was learning and doing and living on purpose and guiding myself to my ultimate purpose of teaching others about their health and God was busy making it so easy for me by allowing me to have this very personal experience with my health so that I could share it with others and in turn of sharing my story with others, I am finding that I can make a great living from this.

And even though this is so much more than making money, although the money feels really good especially when you are making money from what you really love to do, its like God is making is so easy for you when you start to live on purpose and do exactly what you signed up to do.

It is really really magical when this happens.

Now looking back, I see how those doors that were slammed in my face were the doors that were supposed to be closed. They were the doors that my spirit really didn't call for anyway.

At first, when I first got sick, I hated the fact that my body couldn't digest ice cream anymore, couldn't stand fried food, couldn't digest meat. I couldn't drink myself to death anymore. My young self just wanted to fit in with everyone else and my spirit was busy readying myself to embrace its real purpose of learning how to eat properly and thus teach others as well.

So I've already declared that for me this is door knocking down season. And I'm thanking all those doors that were slammed in my face and now I'm focusing only on the ones that are opening up for me so that I can continue to do my work, share my vision, and help others get there as well.

Did Jesus eat raw food?

I"m sure he did.

Now Jesus said Ask and you shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened. Well its "door knocking down" season for me because I've been asking the questions, seeking the answers and now its time to start knocking directly on those doors that can take my career, my personal life, everything that's in my vision when I'm driving, when I"m sleeping, when I'm munching on flax seed crackers and banging out books, recipes, TV treatments, press releases, and emails by the thousands to go to the next next level.

Did Jesus eat raw food? I wonder about him sometimes.

Washington DC/Baltimore area Raw Foods Book Tour - Get ready!

When you are self-published author, you have to self-promote if your goals is to take those months of hard work, intense focus, and long hours of going through the process of putting together a book, and self-publishing it and allowing it to put some green in your pockets and even though I could complain about the fact that I wear many many hats in my business, I am actually overcome by joy from witnessing the many other gifts that I have.

And although I absolutely have no desire to keep doing this on my own and each day gets better as I learn little by little the many resources that I really do have, like for instance my Howard University friends who have offered to assist me, my Baltimore family on my dad's side who has offered to put together a class for me, and the many other friends who have offered a place for me to stay or to drive me around, I really wake up to the fact that I am not alone in this journey of self-actualization and self-realization, waking up the reality that we are powerful beyond belief.

And all of this I am getting from being guided by the power of raw foods. How amazing this journey really is!

Your Health is Your Greatest Wealth

Sometimes like this morning, I get up and I am so damn thankful to be so damn healthy. I remember at one time in my life when I was in my early 20's, yes my early 20's like we don't associate the twenties with being sick but I remember when I was so ill with headaches, fatigue, acne, constipation, vertigo, a thyroid disorder, sciatica, depression, anxiety, all at the same time and I was so angry and sick and tired of being sick and tired, that now in my life I just get so happy and overwhelmed with so much joy that not only haven't I not been sick in such a long time, but I know how to better myself and take care of myself with food, water, sunshine, prayer, a walk in the morning, some yoga, juice, fasting, really simple, easy, and inexpensive ways to keep myself happy, healthy, and whole.

So I'm just basking in gratitude because not only am I so healthy, but I know how to really take care of myself and not only that but I can teach others and share with others my joy and allow that joy to spread.

Whoah!

Ahhhh..............Celery sticks and almond butter

Yes, very simple, very easy to prepare, quick and very comforting for a still hormonal woman. The almond butter is smooth, rich, creamy, with just enough salt and sweetness to balance my palette. Just what I need to make me feel in my skin and not of my raging hormones.

And the celery, the crunchiness, the sodium, the sound of the crunchiness, the feel of the texture of celery going down my throat. I wish you guys could enjoy the feeling with me.

A woman's gotta nurture herself at these times.

Hormonal and eating Raw

Thank God for raw foods. I woke up this morning very hormonal. Took an early early morning shower, took an hour walk, came back, said a prayer, closed my eyes, juiced a mango, papaya, and some kiwi and then ate a piece of raw organic chocolate from this new company that I discovered called The One. They make handmade organic chocolate bars. I know some may think that the $1.99 for 1 oz of chocolate is expensive but after my shower, my walk, my prayer, and my juice, finishing it all off with some organic raw chocolate, my hormones are singing, "Hallelujah"! You can check out the website for the company at www.theonelifestyle.com.

Teaching Raw Foods Newbies! What fun!

That's my niece Ayanna. She made a lovely Kale salad that her mother (my sister Zakia shown in the photo) taught her how to make. You can check out this raw foods chef superstar at www.youtube.com/nwennakai. And the guy in the photo was my east coast assistant Vincent.

Making Raw Chocolate Mousse!

Making raw chocolate mousse! Recipe is in my book, The Goddess of Raw Foods available at www.amazon.com.
Well, so much to blog about it. My class in Philadelphia was an absolute blast. I will post photos for everyone. I had about 35 people in the class. That was actually my biggest class to date. Don't know if I want to do that again, but whatever, God and raw foods is guiding me now. I love teaching people who have absolutely no information about raw foods because they are so impressionable and so curious and they ask so many questions. Its such a giving and receiving flow of energy that happens with people who are new to raw foods because you are like penetrating an interest, a desire that they have had for a while which is basically the desire to want to be healthy and finally you have shed some light in your world. Its a wonderful position to fill. The book is SELLING OUT OF THIS WORLD! And I just got word that the raw foods restaurant in Brazil wants me to come out this summer which is just blowing my wig back right now. I planned on doing some classes in the Baltimore and New York City area next month and buying a condo in August in Philadelphia, but we'll see.

Let your cravings guide you

I know we all crave something, whether its our salt cravings or our sugar cravings or maybe we have cravings for something crunchy, or something more cheesy. Your cravings are the greatest insight into what your body needs in order to really thrive and be healthy. So when we try to curb our cravings instead of honoring them, we are actually ignoring what the body needs to balance itself.

My body craves salt because I have a thyroid condition in which my iodine levels are constantly low and since iodine is related to salt, I'm constantly craving salt. In my book, The Goddess of Raw Foods, I include an excerpt on Himalayan Sea Salt because we think that salt is so bad for us, but it really isn't.

Salt actually regulates the libido, promotes a healthy pH level in your cells, and it promotes good digestion.

So don't blame yourself when your craving chocolate or sweets, just try to reach for those organic natural sweeteners and chocolate because the body is just signaling the brain that it needs some balance hormonally. The key is when you are craving something to reach for the good salt and the good sugars instead of the processed ones.

Check out this website for more information about food cravings.

Giving birth, publishing and chocolate!

Publishing a book is like giving birth to a baby. Self-publishing a book is like giving birth to three babies.

I just self-published my first book, The Goddess of Raw Foods and this wonderful beautiful baby of mine has been grabbing at me for all of my attention and although I am always pleasantly surprised at all the attention she is getting, I get a bit overwhelmed.

I have to admit. Not only was I nervous about this book, but I was also very sensitive like any pregnant woman would be right before I delivered and only 5 days after her delivery date, I'm still nervous about her debut.

So what's a woman to do, but indulge in organic raw chocolate! Yeah to all the Goddesses!

Ask and you shall receive

As I've launched my book and opportunities are coming my way for so many things, I'm on the lookout to purchase property this year and I'm looking for a place where I can plant some of my own herbs and vegetables so I'm letting raw foods act as my guide as my spirit is calling out for some sort of land, fertile ground and soil.

Although we can also grown an organic garden in a high-rise apartment building in New York City. See how wonderful Mother Nature is. We always think that we have to go to a rural area to grow our own food. Anyway, check out this wonderful website www.agardenpatch.com as I am acquiring that green thumb now as well. It will tell you all about gardening for beginners. You can set up your garden patch anywhere for very little time and money and you don't need any experience in gardening at all.

Over and over again, I find Mother Nature to be fascinating as she continues to reveal to us her real power and divinity in that she never goes out of business. She is unstoppable and I don't care how many bombs we drop on her or how many wars we have, she will never cease to thrive and flourish. She will continue to grow our food, keep us breathing fresh air somehow, and cleanse the toxins out of our environments.

Therapy

Writing like raw foods has been my therapy, so what better way to heal myself, have some fun, and reach masses of people is to blog. I've been wanting to blog for years now, but actually my good friend Felicia Coley, CEO of www.wellheeledsociety.com actually really dug it into me the other night after my interview with her about my book, The Goddess of Raw Foods to go ahead and start a blog, so here I am folks ready to reach as many of you as possible.

Raw Foods has been a huge part of my life. I don't like to focus so much on food but this journey has been so much more than food. You can read more about my history and my journey in my book. Its led me down so many roads and has created so many twists and turns in my life so I owe it to myself and to all of those who I teach and reach to continue to educate and inform people about being healthy and eating better.

By the way, for breakfast today, I've had my banana cacao smoothie with hemp protein, and so far I've had a kale salad. I love my greens and I love my kale salad with flax seed oil, dulse flakes, avocado and sundried black olives.

Anyway I look forward to blogging more and I mostly look forward to hearing from all of you. I just love how the internet connects everyone.

Live Well,
